Bayern Munich are ‘fully involved’ in the race to sign reported Everton target Denis Zakaria in a free transfer once he leaves Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of his contract.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who report Bayern will throw their hat into the ring for Zakaria this summer. Julian Nagelsmann agrees with the FCB board that the Swiss would strengthen his squad by adding a highly technical and powerful presence to his midfield.
Monchengladbach have already confirmed that Zakaria will leave Borussia-Park at the end of the season. He has refused to sign a new contract with Die Fohlen and feels it is time for a new challenge. The 25-year-old joined from BSC Young Boys for €10m (£8.5m) in 2017.

Bayern Munich Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic has tracked Zakaria closely for a few years. The Allianz Arena outfit now feel he can join and add depth behind Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka. But he would also rival Marc Roca and Marcel Sabitzer for minutes.
FCB want a fifth option on their books next season as Corentin Tolisso is likely to leave this summer. Like Zakaria, the Frenchman is out of contract, while talks to renew have stalled. Additionally, Zakaria would offer another option to feature in a three-man defensive core.
Everton boosted in Zakaria transfer race, despite Bayern Munich interest
Bayern Munich may have to rival Everton for a free transfer of Zakaria when his contract at Borussia Monchengladbach expires. 90min have reported the Toffees informed the Swiss’ agent of their interest once Die Fohlen announced his imminent farewell.
FCB now firming up their interest is likely a blow to the Blues’ hopes with Nagelsmann able to offer Champions League football and a chance to win Bundesliga titles. Yet the Toffees’ position has also strengthened, as Manchester United are cooling their interest.

Sky Germany add Ralf Rangnick has spoken with Zakaria’s representative over a move to Old Trafford. But the Red Devils are now unlikely to enter a race at the end of the term.
Everton can also try to gazump Bayern Munich by sealing Zakaria’s transfer from Borussia Monchengladbach in January. Bild note Die Fohlen would sell the midfielder – who Borussia Dortmund boss Marco Rose calls ‘incredible’ – for £6m this month.
