Everton may be missing out on Arnaut Danjuma but they are trying to hijack an attacking deal of their own by targeting Bamba Dieng.
The Toffees have been rocked this afternoon as what looked like a done deal for Danjuma has now turned into a nightmare.
Everton had a loan deal agreed for Danjuma and the move appeared to be on the verge of completion.
Yet the sacking of Frank Lampard on Monday appears to have changed things and managerless Everton seem to have missed out on Danjuma.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Tottenham Hotspur have completed a hijack attempt and they will be signing Danjuma, not Everton.
The Dutchman is heading for London right now even after completing an Everton medical, choosing Spurs over the Toffees.
Everton move on to Bamba Dieng
Everton are reeling but they are now trying to hijack an attacking move of their own.
Foot Mercato report that Everton have waded into the race for Marseille attacker Bamba Dieng.
It’s stated that Dieng had agreed terms with Lorient in a deal which would see their star striker Terem Moffi head to Marseille.
Yet there is now doubt over that deal because Everton have come in with an approach for Dieng in the hope of hijacking the deal.
Dieng would allegedly prefer a move to the Premier League over a Ligue 1 rival, so Everton appear to stand a great chance here.
Dieng, 22, was close to joining Leeds United before the summer transfer deadline and has barely featured for Marseille this term.
The Senegal international has started just one league game and made nine substitute appearances, all totalling 188 minutes.
Dieng has scored just once this term and Everton fans may fear that this is a real step down from Danjuma.
Still, Everton are trying to make something happen as Danjuma heads for London, with Dieng potentially arriving instead.
