Everton are interested in signing Werder Bremen forward Niclas Fullkrug as Sean Dyche chases a new striker.

Niclas Fullkrug is back on the Everton wish list once again as the Werder Bremen star attracts interest.

That is according to 90Min, who claim that Fullkrug is wanted by Everton having been something of a long-term target.

German newspaper Bild claimed in January that Everton fancied Fullkrug, so that certainly makes sense.

It’s stated that Fullkrug is also wanted why Fiorentina but Everton are right in the mix.

The Toffees desperately need another goalscorer this summer given Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury record.

Ellis Simms has gone, Neal Maupay hasn’t worked out for Everton and Tom Cannon is still only a prospect.

Adding an experienced goalscorer like Fullkrug could work for Sean Dyche – if they can beat Fiorentina.

Who is Everton target Niclas Fullkrug?

Fullkrug has been one of the most surprising stories in German football in recent years.

A former Bremen youth player, Fullkrug was offloaded to Nurnberg in 2014 after just three goals in 25 Bremen outings.

18 goals in 59 Nurnberg games meant Fullkrug started attracting interest and he joined hometown club Hanover in 2016.

24 goals in 80 games wasn’t anything exceptional but it was enough to tempt Bremen into bringing him back.

Again though, the numbers were solid if unspectacular – 10 goals in 32 games across two seasons.

Nobody could have expected Fullkrug to become a goalscoring sensation but here we are.

Now 30, Fullkrug has smashed 35 goals in his last two seasons and become an important player for the German national team.

Seven goals in nine caps is a hugely impressive record and Fullkrug could now earn himself a big move.

Hailed as ‘special’ by Germany boss Hansi Flick, Fullkrug is an old-fashioned number nine.

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Fullkrug is physical and has been feasting on crosses in the Bundesliga.

That sounds like a Sean Dyche kind of player and Everton could now make their move for the late-blooming German.
