Everton forward David Henen has admitted he is ready to call time on his spell at Goodison Park in order to play regularly.

Henen has struggled for first team football since joining the Toffees in 2015, and his chances are no brighter under Sam Allardyce.

Henen is open to leaving on loan or permanently, and is open to returning to Belgium.

Speaking to TV Lux, reported by Voetball Nieuws, Henen said that he was not content with his current situation.

He said: “I really hope that something happens, because I need playing minutes, which is what I am looking for and what Everton is looking for, whether I am leaving on a loan basis or finally.

“There are nice teams here – even smaller teams – where I can show my talent, my family is here too and it would be nice to be close to them, it would be a nice showcase. Players who are now at big clubs that have passed through Belgium.”

Henen appears aware he must hit the reset button on his career, having failed to make an impact at Everton.

This season he has scored three goals in eight under-21 appearances. He is yet to play a first team game for the club.

Henen left Anderlecht as a teenager before a complex deal between Olympiakos and Everton was engineered, following a loan spell at Monaco.

He might well have been better off staying put in Belgium, and now simply wants an opportunity to play regular football.

At 21-years-old it is time for him to kick on, and a return to his homeland is probably his best solution.
