Everton are keen on Arthur Melo and contact has been made with Juventus as they seek to bring the Brazilian to the Premier League.
The Toffees are expected to be busy in the final days of the transfer window as they seek to boost Frank Lampard’s squad.
Even after signing Amadou Onana in a big-money move from Lille, Everton have continued to be linked with midfielders.
Whether it’s a battle like Idrissa Gueye or a forward-thinking player like Mohammed Kudus, Everton may well add another new face in their engine room.
Everton are keen on Arthur Melo
Frank Lampard knows a thing or two about quality midfield play and after two points from the first four Premier League games, Everton still need more quality.
A new name in the mix is Arthur Melo, with Everton allegedly targeting a deal for the Juventus misfit.
Tuttomercatoweb report that Everton have been in contact with Juventus to try and secure Arthur’s signature.
It’s stated that Juventus are really hoping to get rid of Arthur before Thursday’s transfer deadline and are in talks with two clubs.
Everton face a battle with Portuguese side Sporting, who want to sign Arthur to bolster their midfield following the departure of Matheus Nunes to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Both clubs are seeking loan deals for Arthur and Juventus are now hoping that a deal will be done in the coming days.
So what exactly would Everton be getting in Arthur?
Arthur joined Juventus from Barcelona for a huge £66million deal in 2020, though it was partly offset by sending Miralem Pjanic the other way for £55million.
The Brazilian was expected to become a Barca star after joining from Gremio but never lived up to his billing – and it has been more of the same in Italy.
Massimiliano Allegri has decided to get shut of Arthur this summer and has no plans to bring him back in to the Juventus squad.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with Arthur for months now and reports earlier this month suggested that he thought a move to North London was still a possibility.
Yet with Everton now in talks and Arsenal seemingly no longer in the race, it doesn’t look like Arthur will be joining the Gunners.
A technically-gifted playmaker who can dictate play from deep, Arthur could bring something different to the Everton side if they can get a deal done.
