Sean Dyche’s Everton have scouted Florentino Luis as they consider a move to rival Arsenal and Liverpool for the Benfica midfielder.
That’s according to Portuguese newspaper Record, who claim that Everton sent a scout to watch Florentino for Benfica against Club Brugge.
Benfica secured a 2-0 win against the Belgian side, giving them one foot in the quarter-finals after a successful evening on the road.
Florentino played the full 90 minutes, operating in front of the Benfica back four to great effect.
Florentino racked up four tackles and five interceptions in a superb defensive display to protect his defence.
The Portuguese talent – compared to Casemiro over in Portugal – is now on Everton’s radar as they consider a midfield addition for the summer.
Amadou Onana is a man in demand whilst Everton may feel that Florentino can be an upgrade Abdoulaye Doucoure – or even Idrissa Gueye.
Everton were surely dazzled by Florentino’s display against Club Brugge but they can expect massive competition for the Benfica midfielder.

Record claimed back in October that Liverpool are also interested in signing Benfica talent Florentino.
Talks were initiated by Liverpool as they spoke to Florentino’s representatives about a potential move.
Liverpool didn’t sign a midfielder in January and Florentino could be a prime target on their summer wish list.
Florentino, 23, has risen through the Benfica ranks and was once tipped for stardom.
Florentino lost his way a little and spent time on loan at Monaco and Getafe with mixed success.
Now back at Benfica, Florentino is shining again and could make a big summer transfer.
Everton will hope to pull off a major coup, maybe believing that Arsenal and Liverpool will go for higher-profile targets.
