Everton boss Frank Lampard could make a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja when his Southampton loan expires at the end of the season.

That’s according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who has spoken to Give Me Sport about Broja’s future.

Jones feels there is just no way Lampard doesn’t get involved in the battle for Broja’s signature at the end of the season.

Jones added that, given Lampard’s history with Broja, he would surely make a move to reunite at Everton if Chelsea were willing to sell.

“Broja, there’s no way Lampard doesn’t come into that conversation straight away. He knows him, think he gave him his debut. If he was genuinely available, Lampard would look in his direction,” said Jones.

This is a transfer rumour that gained some traction towards the back end of the January transfer window.

TEAMtalk reported that Everton had joined the race to sign Broja, alongside Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That may have only strengthened since the appointment of Lampard, who worked with Broja during their time together at Chelsea.

In fact, Lampard gave Broja his Premier League debut in 2020, ironically against Everton. Broja only played a few minutes in that game, but Lampard clearly saw something in him.

Everton need to think about striker signings anyway, given that Salomon Rondon now looks a little out of place.

A Rafael Benitez favourite, it’s unclear how Lampard will feel about Rondon.

With Arsenal chasing Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s signature too, Everton need to have targets in mind if they do need to go and sign a striker.

Broja ticks many boxes; he’s young, full of potential, physical and mobile, possessing a fine touch and quick feet around the box.

The 20-year-old looks to be a huge talent for the future, but Chelsea may yet want to keep hold of their homegrown talent.

If Chelsea do decided to cash in on Broja this summer, don’t be surprised to see Lampard make his move.
