Former Everton defender Tony Hibbert has blasted the club to the Daily Mail, saying they haven’t been the People’s Club since David Moyes left.
The defender was allowed to leave Goodison Park this summer after they decided not to offer him a new contract.
It brought about an end to a 25-year association with the Toffees after he initially joined their youth ranks at the age of ten.

His exit was not an ideal one, with himself and Leon Osman discovering via the club’s website that they were not being retained and neither receiving contact from the club about the decision.
He admits it is something that hurts, but says he feels the club has not been the People’s Club since David Moyes left in 2013.
“The People’s Club, it’s no longer that. It’s a ruthless, horrible business and a lot of good people have gone,” he told the Daily Mail.
“I understand a new manager wants to work a different way but it is a dog-eat-dog culture inside the club now. People are only looking out for themselves.”

It is certainly disappointing to see that Everton have treated Hibbert in such a way given his years of service to the club.
There is no denying that he and Osman should have been given a better send off, or at least the dignity of a personal call from the club.
However, the ruthlessness is something that some Everton fans will actually welcome, with many believing their lack of such has been something that has long held them back.
