Sid Lowe has claimed that ‘Everton could suit’ Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone if he was to join a team in the Premier League, as he told ESPN.

The La Liga expert added that Everton are a ‘really big club’ and its fanbase and history could one day attract someone of the Argentine’s quality.

Frank Lampard is currently in the Goodison Park dugout, after he replaced Rafa Benitez in January, and nothing suggests he will head for the exit door anytime soon.

But if Simeone would want to leave Atletico, where he has become a legendary figure, including winning two La Liga titles, then where could he go?

Well, added with throwing Manchester United’s name into the hat, Lowe also mentioned Everton and why he would suit them.

“Well, you are talking about a man that’s resuscitated Atletico Madrid,” said Lowe. “With a very clear sense of how he wants to play, which is not everybody’s cup of tea.

“I wonder whether some of his kind of charismatic approach outside of an Atletico Madrid environment, and particularly, in an environment where he doesn’t speak English. I think that would be problematic for him.

“There is a bit of me that thinks that Manchester United would be a club, the other one I suppose is to look down the league and say ‘is there a club that’s potentially quite big, doesn’t necessarily have hang-ups about style, but just wants to compete and be tough?’

“Maybe you start thinking Everton. They are a really big club. I think sometimes we overlook this. They are a big club, in terms of its fanbase and history. But it feels like someone like Everton could suit him.”

SIMEONE IS A CONTROVERSIAL CHARACTER

One thing is for sure, when you are playing against Simeone’s teams, then you know that you are up against them because they remind you about it every second.

In the Champions League last season, as the Spanish club were knocked out of the competition, they were involved in a controversial encounter against Manchester City.

It’s fair to say that they ruffled some feathers on that day and you can bet your bottom dollar Simeone would bring that to the Premier League.

His teams aren’t known to be free-flowing, but defensive-minded, including playing a 0-5-5 formation during that game against Man City.

At the end of the day, if Simeone provides winning football, then who is going to moan about his style and mannerism, other than the opposition?
