Everton are said to be considering placing New York City boss Patrick Vieira in charge next season.

New York City FC head coach Patrick Vieira speaks at an interview with AFP during the club's annual media day on March 9, 2017, in New York.

Appointing Patrick Vieira would be too big a risk for Everton to take right now.

According to a report in the Metro, Everton are considering making a move to appoint Vieira at the end of the season.

But the Toffees should look elsewhere, rather than place the New York City boss in charge.

Vieira simply does not have enough experience to warrant being put in charge at Goodison Park.

Everton cannot afford to get their next managerial appointment wrong – as they are now at a stage where they must push on.

In Sam Allardyce, Everton already have a safe pair of hands at the helm – and they would surely feel confident of a top 10 finish if he was still in charge next season.

There are still question marks over whether Allardyce is the right man for the job long-term though, as his style has come in for criticism.

Replacing Allardyce and bringing in Vieira would have to be seen a major gamble though.

Arsene Wenger of Arsenal talks with Patrick Vieira during the Barclays Premiership match between Fulham and Arsenal at Craven Cottage on September 11, 2004 in London.

Vieira has done a solid job in MLS, and he is tipped to have a very bright managerial career.

But Everton should watch the former Arsenal man’s progress at his next job, rather than place him in charge now.

The Toffees need a more proven boss to take over, if they part ways with Allardyce, and would be far better off picking the likes of Paolo Fonseca or Marco Silva than Vieira.
