Everton winger Anthony Gordon has been impressed with Eddie Howe’s work at Newcastle United as the Magpies look to strike a deal.
That’s according to The Chronicle, who claim that Gordon ‘has been impressed’ by the job Howe has done since becoming Newcastle boss.
Howe joined Newcastle last season when they were in a battle to avoid relegation.
Now, the Magpies are looking like a solid bet for the Champions League places with Howe working wonders up at St James’ Park.
That work seemingly hasn’t gone unnoticed by Gordon, who is looking on at Howe with admiration.
It’s even added that Gordon’s representatives are fans of Newcastle director of football Dan Ashworth.
Put all that together and it seems that a move to Newcastle would be very appealing for Gordon and his agents.

Newcastle now in talks to sign Anthony Gordon
Newcastle have allowed Chris Wood to join Nottingham Forest and rather than sign a like-for-like replacement, they’re going for another wide player in Gordon.
The Daily Mail report that Newcastle have now started talks to try and sign Gordon.
It’s stated that Newcastle are in discussions over a package worth around £25million plus £15million in add-ons.
Everton would ideally like closer to £60million but that may not happen this month, with Newcastle looking at a much cheaper price.
The report adds that suitors have been given encouragement that Gordon can be sold in the final week of the transfer window.
Gordon has been identified as a key target by Newcastle’s recruitment team and the Magpies are now making a real push.
Newcastle face competition from Chelsea though, who may offer more money and would be willing to loan Gordon back to Everton – something the Magpies may not fancy.
Gordon’s future promises to be a big talking point over the next week, and Newcastle will feel they have a major selling point in Howe.
