Everton chased Anthony Elanga in August and the Manchester United winger is understood to be attracting real interest ahead of January.

The Daily Mail report that Elanga is ‘in demand’ with clubs chasing loan deals for the Red Devils talent.

United are trying to sign PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo and it’s stated that bid is expected to go in for him soon.

Adding another wide man will push Elanga further down the pecking order at Old Trafford and a loan move seems the right move for him.

Elanga, 20, has started five Premier League games this season but his total league minute tally for the season stands at just 371 – just over four full games.

With Antony, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho and potentially Gakpo all in the mix, it’s hard to see Elanga playing a key role in the second half of the season.

Loaning Elanga out for first-team football would be a sensible move for all and Premier League clubs will be queueing up for him.

Everton surely back in the Elanga race

One club who were keen on Elanga before the summer transfer deadline was Everton.

The Daily Mail reported in August that Everton were keen on taking Elanga on loan as Antony prepared to make his big move to United.

Erik ten Hag ultimately decided to keep Elanga though, leaving Everton to back away from chasing the Swede on loan.

Everton still need attacking additions though and if they were keen in August, the Toffees surely still have an interest in Elanga now.

Hailed as ‘electric’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Elanga clearly has huge talent and potential but ultimately needs first-team action.

Everton may be in a better position to offer first-team minutes to Elanga in 2023 and United should consider sending him to Goodison Park despite Donny van de Beek’s struggles on loan there last season.
