Everton want Anthony Elanga are now understood to have been in talks with his representatives over a January loan move.

The Daily Mail reported last week that Everton are back in the hunt for Elanga having chased the Manchester United winger in August.

Other clubs are understood to be interested in Elanga but Everton are now pushing to bring him to Goodison Park.

Reporter Simon Phillips has told Give Me Sport that Everton are speaking to Elanga’s agent to try and get a deal done.

Phillips noted that Everton are ‘knocking on the door’ and are trying to put a convincing proposal over to Elanga and his representatives.

Elanga is represented by CAA Stellar following the merging of CAA Base and Stellar Group earlier this year.

Everton star Jordan Pickford is also represented by the same agency, which may give Everton a strong line of communication.

Everton target Elanga needs loan move

Elanga, 20, is an exciting talent at Manchester United but he just isn’t receiving first-team football at Old Trafford.

Elanga has started just five Premier League games this season and played a total of 376 minutes in the Premier League.

The Swede has played only four minutes in United’s two games since Christmas, highlighting his lack of game time.

United missing out on Cody Gakpo to Liverpool may pose a problem for Everton, with the Red Devils maybe reluctant to let a winger go out.

Yet with Alejandro Garnacho now pushing himself ahead of Elanga in the United pecking order, Erik ten Hag and co need to make the best decision for their young wide man.

Right now, it feels like a loan move is the right call and Everton could give him the playing time needed – even if Donny van de Beek endured a difficult time there last season.
