Everton are in talks with Andre Ayew as they consider a late deal for the striker after his departure from Qatari side Al Sadd.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Everton are in direct talks with Ayew over a move to Goodison Park.

Ayew is now a free agent having left Al Sadd by mutual consent over the weekend.

That means the Ghanaian attacker is now free to move on and a move back to the Premier League could be on the cards.

Everton are gauging the situation and discussing whether they can do a deal for Ayew.

Given that Ayew is now a free agent, a deal doesn’t have to be done today but the Toffees will surely want to get their business boxed off.

Andre Ayew won’t set Everton pulses racing

Ayew is now 33 and arguably past his best at this stage in his career.

A free transfer won’t break the bank but Everton fans probably wouldn’t fancy anything beyond the end of the season for Ayew.

Formerly of West Ham United, Ayew had his best days in English football with Swansea City.

Ayew bagged 12 goals in the 2015-16 season with Swansea having joined from Marseille.

West Ham swooped in with big money for Ayew but just 18 months later, he headed back to South Wales and couldn’t keep Swansea in the Premier League.

35 goals in two seasons after Swansea’s relegation was an outstanding record but Ayew then managed just five goals in 38 games on loan at Fenerbahce.

Ayew headed to Qatar in 2021, following in the footsteps of father Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew by joining Al Sadd.

21 goals in 39 games isn’t the worst record but there should be huge questions over whether he can shine in the Premier League at this stage.

Capable of playing out wide or up front, Ayew can offer Everton another option but will surely prioritise a deal for compatriot Kamaldeen Sulemana today.
