West Ham and Everton target Cedric Bakambu has signed a new deal at Villarreal.

Everton and West Ham are set to miss out on striker Cedric Bakambu.

Football Espana report the forward has signed a new contract with La Liga side Villarreal, and a press conference is being held on Friday to formally announce the news.

Bakambu’s contract will take him up until 2022, strengthening Villarreal’s hand considerably in upcoming negotiations.

The Sun had reported that Everton were eyeing Bakambu as a potential replacement for striker Romelu Lukaku, with the striker valued at £25 million.

The Telegraph claimed earlier this month that West Ham had seen a £22 million offer rejected for the striker.

The 26-year-old scored 11 goals in 26 games last season for Villarreal in La Liga.

The DR Congo international has been at Villarreal since 2015, since signing from Turkish side Bursaspor.

Both Premier League sides are keen to sign strikers, although of the two it is West Ham who are more frantic as pressure from fans builds, despite Everton recently selling Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United, as the Toffees push ahead with recruits in other areas.
