Everton fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the recent injury news regarding James McCarthy.
McCarthy has been ruled out for three weeks after undergoing surgery to address a groin complaint, as announced on Everton’s official website.
“James McCarthy had groin surgery and will be out for three weeks,” Everton manager Ronald Koeman told the club’s official website.
McCarthy is an important player for Everton and has made two appearances in the Premier League for the Merseyside outfit so far this season.
The 25-year-old Republic of Ireland international was linked with a move away from the Toffees in the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Record, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic were interested in securing the services of McCarthy.
It was reported on transfer deadline day that the Bhoys wanted Everton to subsidise part of the 25-year-old’s wages.
In the end, the former Hamilton Academical and Wigan Athletic midfielder remained at Goodison Park.

Back in November 2015, the France international attacking midfielder suffered an ankle injury during the Premier League game between West Ham and against Everton at the Boleyn Ground.
Payet picked up the injury to his left ankle after a challenge from Everton midfielder McCarthy.
The 29-year-old tried to shake it off but he had to be substituted in the 50th minute, as the game in London ended in a 1-1 draw.
Payet was expected to be on the sidelines for three months, as reported by BBC Sport at the time, but he returned earlier than expected in early January.
