Everton and Tottenham Hotspur are already being linked with making moves in the upcoming January transfer window.

Both clubs are reportedly eyeing each other’s players, raising the possibility that a swap deal involving players plus cash could be struck.

This would involve Ross Barkley switching to Tottenham, and Danny Rose signing for Everton.

Barkley has been linked to Spurs for the past year, and his Everton contract is winding down.

New manager Sam Allardyce even admitted he has no idea if Barkley will stay at the club, telling SkySports he wondered if an agreement has already been struck with player and potential employers.

On the other side, Tottenham’s outspoken full-back Danny Rose is being linked with an exit, and has admitted he is keen to move back North, having left Leeds as a youngster.

The Star report Everton could be keen on Rose, who played under Allardyce with England.

A swap deal would see Everton pay out more cash, with Barkley having just months remaining on his contract, and may be hard to thrash out.

But it would leave both players happier than ever, with Barkley getting a fresh start, and Rose getting to enjoy his football under a manager he once raved about.

On the pitch it would be a gamble for Rose, but he could strengthen his claims for a World Cup spot by getting back to playing regularly again after a tough year out injured.
