Everton loanee Andre Gomes has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and some of the Toffees fans fear that he will now want to go.
Several Everton fans have taken to Twitter to predict that Andre Gomes will be Tottenham-bound when his loan spell at Goodison Park ends following their 6-2 defeat on Sunday, while plenty of Spurs supporters would clearly be happy to have him.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men put all of their Premier League rivals on alert with a stunning performance at Goodison Park, with braces from Heung-min Son and Harry Kane, and a goal each for Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen leading them to the victory.
The Toffees had bright moments and actually took the lead. But they could not prevent Spurs storming to the win that leaves Pochettino’s side two points off Manchester City.
It was not only the result that Everton fans were hugely disappointed with. Gomes had to be replaced during the early stages of the second-half due to injury.
And several Toffees fans are now convinced that the result is going to count against them as they look to try and keep the Portugal international.
While some have slammed the 25-year-old’s display, others are now worried about the speculation linking Gomes with a move to Tottenham. The Telegraph recently reported that Spurs have the Barcelona-owned midfielder on their wishlist and could consider a move.
And after Tottenham’s brilliant win at the weekend, many Everton supporters fear that they have become underdogs in the race to sign Gomes permanently.
