Middlesbrough crashed out of the Championship play-offs on Tuesday night as they drew 0-0 away at Aston Villa, sending them out 1-0 on aggregate.

Boro lost 1-0 at home on Saturday evening as Mile Jedinak bagged the winning goal for Villa, meaning Tony Pulis’ men had to travel to Villa Park in search of a turnaround.

However, in a fairly dour affair between the two sides, Boro couldn’t find the net and could only muster a 0-0 draw, sending them out of the play-offs without scoring a single goal.

It now means that Pulis will be planning for life in the Championship next season, and he will have tough decisions to make about some of his players during the transfer window this summer.

One such decision will surround on-loan midfielder Muhamed Besic, who joined the club on deadline day in January having become something of a misfit for Everton.

The Bosnian international had starred up until the end of the season, but he struggled in the first leg against Villa and then endured a dismal night at Villa Park, leaving Boro fans to wonder whether he’s worth pursuing permanently.

Some felt that it was Besic’s worst display for Boro since his arrival, claiming that he had a nightmare against Steve Bruce’s side, whilst Everton fans want him kept as far away from Goodison Park as possible, stating that he is a Championship player at best and is a ‘dreadful player’.
