According to The Star, the Owls were prepared to break their wage structure in order to retain his services, but the 19-year-old refused to sign a new deal.

Both United and Everton were interested in the talented and promising young forward, but it seems that the Reds and the Toffees have missed out on the 19-year-old to a club in the second tier of Belgian football – Belgian First Division B – managed by former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson.

According to The Liverpool Echo, Everton were interested in snapping up Hirst on a free transfer this summer, while The Mirror claimed that Manchester United want the youngster.
