Everton are set to take on Liverpool in the Merseyside derby tomorrow.
Everton had endured a difficult start to the campaign before Ronald Koeman was dismissed, and were behind West Brom at the point when the Dutchman was sacked.
The Baggies are now stuck at the bottom of the Premier League table, and look destined to be relegated.
And Allardyce said: “West Brom were above us when I got here. Look where we are now and where they are.”
Everton fans cannot believe the comments, as they feel they show a complete lack of ambition.
The Toffees were actually ahead of West Brom when Allardyce took over, but only marginally, due to their victory under the guidance of caretaker boss David Unsworth.
In any case, the ambitions of West Brom and Everton are very different, and Allardyce’s latest claim has only served to wind up Toffees fans.
Even Liverpool fans couldn’t believe what Allardyce was saying, just ahead of the Merseyside derby.
Allardyce’s future is very uncertain, with a vocal section of Everton’s supporters hoping he is let go at the end of the season.
