Everton, Arsenal, Swansea, Leicester, Southampton and Watford representing England’s stars of the future.
Gareth Southgate, manager of England, speaks to the media during a press conference.
Gareth Southgate has looked to youth with his latest England squad by calling up Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks.
Which other youngsters are coming through, though, and are they getting enough game time in the Premier League? Well the Under-21s only missed out on a World Cup final this summer after a penalty shootout defeat to Germany, so here is how much they have been used by their club since then.
Jordan Pickford, Everton – 630 minutes
The goalkeeper has played every minute of the league season for the Toffees so far following a summer transfer from Sunderland, although has let in 12 goals.
Mason Holgate, Everton – 230 minutes
The three matches he has played have been for the entire 90 minutes, although in a shaky backline under manager Ronald Koeman the defender has also been on the bench a fair amount.
Jermain Defoe of AFC Bournemouth and Mason Holgate of Everton compete for the ball.
Calum Chambers, Arsenal – 0 minutes
Something of the forgotten man of English football, now aged 22 Chambers is clearly well down the pecking order for the Gunners.
Alfie Mawson, Swansea City – 630 minutes
Like Pickford the centre-back – who is actually 23 but played because he was 21 when qualification started two years prior – has featured in every minute of Swansea’s campaign so far.
Ben Chilwell, Leicester City – 180 minutes
Competing with Christian Fuchs for a place at left-back for the Foxes, the emerging Chilwell has played two full games in 2017/18.
James Ward-Prowse, Southampton – 172 minutes
More of a squad player for the Saints under new manager Mauricio Pellegrino, Ward-Prowse has featured in six matches but has only started two.
Nathaniel Chalobah of Watford and Oriol Romeu of Southampton in action.
Nathaniel Chalobah, Watford – 430 minutes
A summer transfer from Chelsea, Chalobah started the first five of the Hornets’ fixtures before suffering a knee injury.
Lewis Baker, Middlesbrough – 0 minutes
A Blues player, but on loan at Boro in the Championship and therefore has no top flight minutes. Baker has played in all 10 matches in the second tier, though.
Will Hughes, Watford – 0 minutes
Another summer transfer to Vicarage Road, although the midfielder is yet to break into the first team squad since his switch from Derby County.
Demarai Gray, Leicester City – 220 minutes
Yet to truly establish himself in the starting XI at Leicester, Gray has featured in all seven games this term but has started only one.
Tammy Abraham, Swansea City – 537 minutes
Another on loan from Stamford Bridge, Abraham has started every game for the Swans and has even chipped in with two league goals.
