Everton youngster Evans has put pen to paper on a new deal at Goodison Park.
Everton teenager Antony Evans has told the club’s official website that he wants to break into the Toffees first-team after putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Merseyside outfit.
The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has impressed in Premier League 2 for the Toffees this season, showing versatility and an attacking nous that has caught the eye of second string boss David Unsworth.
In 13 Premier League 2 games, Evans has found the back of the net four times in the form of braces against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-23 sides and that has prompted Everton into offering him a new deal.
Speaking after extending his stay with Everton, Evans stated that he is willing to go on loan again in order to show manager Sam Allardyce that he is capable of playing in the first team.
“Everton is a great club and I am delighted to sign for another couple of years,” Evans said. “I wanted to get a foothold in the team [this season], kick on and get a contract.
We have a new [first-team] manager and new ways, so it is an exciting time at the Club. Ultimately, I want to try to get in the first team, whether that is going on loan again or staying with the Under-23s and continuing to perform consistently.”
The two-time England Under-19 international was sent on loan to League Two side Morecambe for the second half of the 2016-17 campaign, where he scored two goals and added another two assists in 14 games.
He faces plenty of competition in the form of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klaassen, Wayne Rooney and Tom Davies to earn a crack at the number 10 role in Everton’s senior side, but he is seemingly more than up for the challenge.
