Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to climb the Championship table during the second half of the season.
Wolves full-back Matt Doherty explained how disappointed he and his teammates were with their side’s loss to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, but insisted that they are still confident as they head into 2017, as quoted by the Express & Star.
Paul Lambert’s men currently sit in 16th position in the Championship table, just seven points clear of the relegation zone, but have struggled wth consistency since the Scot’s arrival in November.

They face a tricky trip to Sheffield Wednesday today, before games against Aston Villa, Norwich City and Huddersfield Town, in a month that could very well prove to define their season.
And the 24-year-old defender, who has played in all 24 of Wolves’ Championship games so far this term, outlined his side’s goals for the rest of the season, when speaking to the Express & Star:
“We really wanted to win against QPR and we could have looked a bit further forward if we did. But the goal for the rest of the season is to be ambitious and try and overachieve. We’re not looking below us. We’re still thinking, let’s win as many as possible. Let’s win the majority of the games we’ve got left. We’d never say we’re going to settle for mid-table. Not one of us would do that.”

A main concern for Lambert must be his side’s defensive displays, with Wolves managing just two clean sheets from their last 16 league outings.
But with 22 games remaining, there is still plenty of time left for improvement, and Wolves fans will be hoping that their side hit the ground running in the new year, starting with three points against the Owls today at Hillsborough.
