Andy Walker told Sky Sports News (30/11/20 at 4:10 pm) that Celtic have ‘underestimated’ at how well Steven Gerrard has done at Rangers ‘even when they were collapsing’ towards the back end of last season.

The tide has changed quite dramatically in Glasgow since the start of the campaign, as Rangers are 11 points clear of Celtic at the top of the Premiership.

It seems as though the writing was on the wall for Neil Lennon following that defeat to Ross County, but he marches onto another day, even if the supporters don’t approve.

Walker touched upon proceedings between the Old Firm duo and how his former club have got it wrong about Rangers.

“Rangers only need to get one title for them to be considered legends,” said Walker. “And that’s what Steven Gerrard is looking at.

“Not only are Rangers now favourites to win this cup, and that would be Steven Gerrard’s first trophy, but they are also massive favourites to win the league title as well.

“I think Celtic have underestimated how well Steven Gerrard has done at Rangers. Even when they were collapsing in the league last season post-Christmas.

“This was a team getting credible, notable results in Europe. I think they have gone onto do that last season.”

In truth, a number of players have let Lennon down, but at this stage, he is the main target for supporters because he is the one in the dugout.

It would be a shock if Lennon is still prowling up and down the Parkhead technical area in the New Year because it does seem as though it’s a matter of time before he is either sacked or walks.

Too much is at stake this season for those in the Celtic boardroom to sit on their hands and do nothing because it has been an utterly disastrous start for the Bhoys and there doesn’t seem to be an obvious long-term answer.
