Aleksandar Mitrovic looks to have no future at Newcastle, meaning supporters should accept a reported switch.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is a popular figure at Newcastle United – of that there is no doubt.
His supporters then must have been concerned by reports in DHA that the Serb could be used as a makeweight in a deal to bring Besiktas’ Cenk Tosun to St James’ Park.
However, even Mitrovic’s most ardent fan must accept that this is actually a positive outcome for both the player and the club right now.

It is becoming abundantly clear that Rafa Benitez does not trust Mitrovic, having not started him in a single Premier League game this season despite the struggles of fellow forward Joselu.
In a World Cup year, the former Anderlecht man needs game time; meanwhile, Newcastle need a trustworthy, prolific striker.
If Benitez continues to refuse to play Mitrovic, determined Newcastle fans may perhaps have to settle for an alternative replacement for Joselu – and Tosun could certainly be that.

Tosun, unlike Joselu, has a proven goal record and could step into Mitrovic’s shoes as a fans’ favourite.
While it would be sad to see Mitrovic’s relationship with the St James’ Park faithful come to nothing, it appears there is no way back. Tosun, however, could yet be a star.
