Gary Neville thinks Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp will hate the latest European Super League proposals, as stated on his self-titled podcast.
Liverpool announced their plan to join the newly formed Super League late last night, in a move which will shake up European football.
Liverpool’s decision has been widely condemned by their own supporters, ex-players and pundits.
The Reds have championed themselves as the peoples’ club.
However, by taking these steps they seem to have made a decision which can only negatively impact on the bulk of the Premier League clubs.
And Neville feels that Klopp will be fuming with Liverpool’s stance.
“You just have to at moments like this, you have to think about…. this is not history. I’m all for moving forward and modernising and creating more jobs and prosperity. This is killing things. Honestly,” he fumed.
“You think about Sir Matt Busby, Herbert Chapman. The people who have emersed themselves in these clubs, even Jurgen Klopp. Will Jurgen Klopp like this? Not a chance. Bill Shankly? Imagine. Imagine Bill Shankly hearing this.”
The ramifications of Liverpool’s decision are not yet clear, with UEFA meeting today to discuss punishments.
Points deductions, fines and even the possibility of each club being kicked out of the Premier League have all been discussed as possible options.
Klopp nor any Liverpool figure is yet to come out and speak about the decision publicly.
