Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the young Paraguayan.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo earlier this week, Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal to sign AS Roma striker Antonio Sanabria this summer.
The 20-year-old had a good spell on loan at Sporting Gijon last season and he is now being tipped to make a permanent exit. But if he does arrive at Spurs in due course, that should not mean manager Mauricio Pochettino considers his strike-force complete.
Sanabria is undoubtedly talented and considering his age and potential he is exactly the kind of signing Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy loves to make. However, Spurs proved last season that they are on the verge of something great and if they can add more ready-made stars to their squad they could go one step further in the race for the Premier League next season.
Sanabria scored 11 goals in 30 matches last season and yet as exciting as he is Tottenham also need to sign a prolific striker to ease the burden on Harry Kane and give Pochettino the options to challenge both domestically and in Europe.
When you consider the likely renewed challenges of Manchester United and Chelsea next season and the arrival of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Tottenham will not want to be left behind.
Signing Sanabria is a step in the right direction but they must also add a player of the quality of Vincent Janssen, Michy Batshuayi or Alexandre Lacazette. After all, competition for places breeds improved performances and Kane is proving for England at Euro 2016 that even the best strikers can suffer from burnout.
Pochettino will know what is best for his side and one can only hope that in time that sees two new strikers arrive at Tottenham if one of them is the promising Sanabria.
