Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting after The Athletic reported that reported Reds target Arnaut Danjuma has a €75m (£63m) release clause.
What’s the story with Danjuma?
It’s been widely reported that Liverpool are keen on Danjuma, but if they want to sign him, they may have to fork out a massive sum.
Indeed, his release clause from Villarreal is set at a massive £63m, and it’s fair to assume that The Yellow Submarine will not want to sell him for any less than that. After all, he has scored four goals in the Champions League and five in La Liga this term.
Frustratingly, the winger was available in the summer for just £21m, and if Liverpool had made their move at that time, the Reds would have picked up quite a bargain.
Context is key
Liverpool fans are understandably a bit annoyed about this price tag, but context is key.
In Spain, every player has to have a release clause, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that players can only be sold for that sum.
Someone like Pedri, who has a €1bn release clause will probably never move for that amount, but that fee is there to deter buyers, and while Liverpool know they could land Danjuma for £63m, he’d probably be available for a little cheaper than that.

Fan reaction
Supporters were frustrated to see this report, with one fan even commenting that Erling Haaland would be available for cheaper in the summer when his release clause for the same amount comes into effect.
