According to 90Min, Antonio Conte wants Tottenham to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Spurs may have a bit of a goalkeeping crisis on the horizon. Hugo Lloris isn’t getting any younger and his contract situation still isn’t sorted, so, it makes sense for Spurs to be looking for a new stopper.
Onana has emerged as one of Europe’s top goalies in recent years, and while he’s recently served a ban after testing positive for a banned substance, he’s now back and eligible to play.
So, how good is Onana? Well, the fact that he’s previously impressed former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger tells you all you need to know about his talent.
What’s been said?
Speaking to BeIN Sports back in 2019, Wenger had plenty of praise for Onana.
“I have to compliment their goalkeeper, André Onana. He saw that his team had a hard time with high balls from the side and he dared to go far in front of his goal,” Wenger said.

Could be great
The fact that Weger has complimented Onana in the past shows how talented he is, but, to be honest, his CV speaks for itself.
The Ajax stopper has won league titles in the Netherlands and he’s also led the Dutch outfit to the brink of a Champions League final – Spurs fans all know how that one turned out, with Lucas Moura’s last-minute goal knocking Ajax out of that season’s competition.
On top of that, Onana has also previously been nominated for the Yashin Award, putting him amongst the best goalkeepers on the planet.
If Conte can convince Fabio Paratici to swoop for Onana this could be something of a coup.
