The West Bromwich Albion centre-back is still being linked with a move away.
The January transfer window is just around the corner and West Bromwich Albion will be fearful that defender Jonny Evans could depart next month.
Evans was heavily linked with a move away from West Brom in the summer, and, while he ended up staying at The Hawthorns, there is a very real possibility that he could depart this time around.
As reported by The Daily Express, Evans would favour a return to Manchester United if he leaves West Brom, as opposed to joining Arsenal or Manchester City.
A product of United’s youth academy, Evans made 198 senior appearances for United, and, while he often found it difficult to command a regular place in the starting lineup, he won an array of trophies during his time at the club.
Evans would surely relish the opportunity to return to United if he was afforded regular game time, although it isn’t clear whether that criteria could be fulfilled, with the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly already at the club.
West Brom must do all they can to try and keep hold of Evans, as losing him could be extremely costly in their quest to avoid relegation.
If they do sanction a sale then West Brom must certainly look to get the deal finalised as quickly as possible so that they have sufficient time to bring in a replacement.
