Rotherham United will play behind closed door games to try and give themselves an edge ahead of facing Leeds United.
Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has revealed how his side are going about preparing for their game against Leeds United next Friday.
The Championship new boys will most likely head into the game as underdogs, but Evans has revealed how his team are planning to stay fit throughout the international break leading up to the game.
“We’ll go back on the training ground and the lads will work hard. There’ll be no long periods off,” Evans told the South Yorkshire Times.
“I know we have two weeks without games but we’ve got behind-closed-door games booked in to make sure we continue to fire as we have been going into this break.”
It’s a sensible idea because without any competitive fixtures, it can be difficult for players at any club to re-adjust following a break during any part of an important season.
Leeds head into the match still looking for their first win under Darko Milanic but they themselves have had players in competitive action during the current break.
Adryan and Brian Montenegro played for the under-21 side in the Premier League Cup win against Doncaster Rovers earlier this week so Milanic will have squad options in terms of sharp players.
It’s also important to remember that Leeds played three games inside a week before the international break where they reacted well with two draws after a defeat away at Brentford.
That gives the side momentum regardless of not playing until October 17 and Leeds will also work extremely hard on the training ground with players who aren’t away representing their country.
Rotherham are three points behind Leeds in the Championship with the same defensive record but a worse attack but the Whites have the incentive of moving to within a point of the play-off places when the teams meet next week.
