Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with Jack Marriott of Peterborough United in the summer transfer window.
Jack Marriott is one of the best strikers in League One, and there is no surprise that Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest all have been linked with the Peterborough United star.
According to The Daily Mail, Championship trio Leeds, Wednesday and Forest are interested in signing Marriott from Peterborough in the summer transfer window.
Marriott, who cost Peterborough £450,000 in transfer fees when they signed him from Luton Town in the summer of 2017 according to The Daily Mail, has been in superb form this season, scoring 27 goals in 44 League One appearances, according to Whoscored.com.
It is clear that The Posh will get offers for the 23-year-old striker, and manager Evans – who was in charge of Leeds from October 2015 until the end of the 2015-16 season – has admitted that the club could cash in on him.
Evans told The Peterborough Telegraph: “The chairman turned down unacceptable bids for Jack in January and if those same bids come in for him now they will still be unacceptable.
“But I have spoken to some managers and they are determined to get Jack. It’s not a certainty he will go, but goalscorers as good as him are gold dust. There is a huge amount of interest in him.”
Exit likely?
Peterborough have failed to finish in the top six of League One this season, and it is hard to see a striker who has scored 27 goals in the division in one campaign will not be snapped up by a club in the Championship.
While it would be a risk for Leeds, Wednesday or Forest to recruit a player from League One, if they get him for a decent transfer fee, then it could prove to be a bargain signing in the long run.
