Scottie Scheffler has a knack for getting under people’s skin, but it’s hard to deny the respect he commands across the Tour.

The American put together another incredible season in 2025, winning five times and adding two more major titles to his collection.

And at Bethpage Black later this month, Scheffler will once again be a huge presence for Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup team.

Before that, Scheffler is set to play the Procore Championship, where he got in some early practice alongside Russell Henley and J.J. Spaun on Tuesday.

Either one of them could easily slot in as a playing partner for him during the event. Scheffler has spoken about how much he’s looking forward to the Ryder Cup. But not many European players will be eager to go up against him at Bethpage, that’s for sure.

Sepp Straka gives honest view on Scottie Scheffler before 2025 Ryder Cup

Since February 2022, Scheffler has racked up 18 wins on the PGA Tour. If he keeps this pace up, he’ll be chasing down records sooner rather than later.

Sepp Straka, who will line up for Europe at Bethpage Black later this month, didn’t hold back in his praise for the world number one.

He said: “It’s beautiful yeah. People say his footwork is funky.” “He’s so impressive. Just how consistent he is,” McCarthy said of Scheffler.

“Like, it’s just – you can always count on him being there. And there’s a reason why he’s number one in the world.”

Straka isn’t exactly a slouch when it comes to iron play himself, ranking eighth in strokes gained approach and 16th in greens in regulation on the PGA Tour in 2025.

Breaking down Scottie Scheffler’s iron play on the 2025 PGA Tour

Few players in history have been as sharp with irons as Scheffler. He leads the PGA Tour in strokes gained approach, and it’s not even close.

To make matters worse for his competitors, he also tops the tour in strokes gained off the tee.

Here’s a look at how his iron play stacked up statistically over the 2025 season:

StatsScheffler’s 2025 rank
Strokes gained approach1
Greens in regulation6
Proximity to the hole3
Approaches from 275 yards or more1
Approaches from 50-125 yards2
Approaches from under 100 yards2

One of Scheffler’s most impressive traits is his distance control with irons. His ability to consistently hit shots pin-high is remarkable.

He doesn’t need to attack every flag to make birdies, and that controlled approach means he rarely short-sides himself or drops unnecessary shots. It’s a big reason why he keeps stacking up wins.
