Man City kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign with a thumping 6-3 win against RB Leipzig. And in doing so, the Premier League champions made history.

The victory against the German club meant that City became the quickest English side to win 50 games in the Champions League, as per OptaJoe. The Manchester giants made it to the final last season.

Indeed, Pep Guardiola’s side will be keen to go all the way this campaign after coming so close last year. And there’s a strong chance City could win the Champions League this season.

The signing of Jack Grealish is already looking to be a hit for the Manchester side. The winger bagged a goal and an assist in his Champions League debut for City.

And against a side with as much quality as Leipzig, who made it to the semi-finals in the 2019/20 season, City made the east German club look ordinary by scoring six goals against the Bundesliga giants.

Moreover, this latest achievement proves that City are on the right track when it comes to competing in the Champions League. Only Real Madrid have won 50 games in fewer games than Guardiola’s side.

And on social media, City fans were amazed how quickly the side had won 50 games in Europe’s elite club competition.
