Has Tottenham’s Serge Aurier really been that bad?

The top five listed by the newspaper were Leonardo Bonucci, Andre Silva, Victor Lindelof, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Joe Hart.
Tottenham’s Aurier is named as an ‘honourable mention’, along with Everton’s Wayne Rooney and Real Madrid’s Theo Hernandez.

Aurier has competed for position with Kieran Trippier at right-back at Spurs and been rotated evenly.
The one low point was a red card against West Ham, which almost cost his side a win.
In comparison to Trippier, Aurier has made more tackles and interceptions despite playing in two fewer Premier League and Championship games.
Where he is markedly less effective is going forward, with Trippier creating nearly five times as many chances.
| Passing Accuracy | Won Tackles | Interceptions Won | Effective Clearances | Key Passes | Crossing Accuracy | Appearances | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kieran Trippier | 81% | 11 | 4 | 28 | 19 | 21% | 10 |
| Serge Aurier | 80% | 13 | 17 | 16 | 4 | 13% | 8 |
Aurier is only just getting started at Spurs, but doesn’t have it easy with England international Trippier in front of him.
He is a part of a special side and could yet end the season a Premier League winner.
There is plenty of time for him to end the season being lauded as one of one of the best signings of 2017.
