Borussia Dortmund want to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier before the transfer window closes.
That is according to a report from Bild.
It states that Dortmund are keen on Eric Dier and that the 29-year-old does not have a role under Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou.
They face competition for his signature, though, with the same outlet claiming that their rivals Bayern Munich also want to sign Dier.
It really does look like Dier is not part of Postecoglou’s plans. The Englishman has not appeared in any of Tottenham’s four games this season, including their last outing against Fulham in the Carabao Cup.
Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Eric Dier is understandable
It is not hard to see why Dortmund are interested in Dier. With the former Sporting Lisbon man not playing for Tottenham right now, the German club probably feel that they can get him for cheap.
He is also used to playing at a high level, making appearances for a big club like Tottenham and the England national team, while he has participated in competitions such as the Champions League and World Cup.

What is really appealing about Dier, though, is the fact that he can start in defence or midfield.
When you consider all of the above, the England international could be a smart signing for Dortmund.
While Dier may be surplus to requirements at Tottenham, he still has plenty to offer. If Dortmund are to bring him to their club before the transfer market shuts, though, it seems they may have to see off competition from Bayern.
That may prove to be tricky, as the chance to reunite with his former Tottenham team-mate Harry Kane, who is one of the best strikers in the world, and work with an elite coach like Thomas Tuchel may be too hard to turn down.
