European expert Andy Brassell has delivered an exciting verdict for Leeds United fans as the Yorkshire club reportedly close in on the signing of Marseille and Senegal striker Bamba Dieng for a bargain £8.5million, on deadline day.

Dieng, 22, is on the verge of joining Leeds and just 42 appearances for Marseille. Clocking up 36 of those last season, he had a hand in 11 goals despite starting 17 times. Leeds have moved for Dieng, after missing out on Cody Gakpo.

An 11-time Senegal international, Dieng has been compared to Sadio Mane in the past. Now, Leeds are closing in on his arrival and owner Andrea Radrizzani has even told fans to welcome him – after the club failed to bring in Gakpo.

Speaking to Sky Sports News following the news that Leeds are close to signing Dieng, European expert Brassell gave his verdict. It is an exciting one for Leeds fans, telling viewers that Dieng is a player with enormous potential.

“Dieng had a weird contract situation. Marseille decided to sell. Dieng has enormous potential, absolutely enormous. Capable of scoring spectacular goals, strong, great runs. Think he will be great for Leeds, and it is an absolute bargain.”

Brassell has delivered exciting Dieng verdict for Leeds fans ahead of move

Having missed out on a £34million deal for Gakpo, Leeds will be paying just £8.5million for Dieng. A quarter of the outlay they would have paid to sign the PSV Eindhoven man. So, it seems Leeds are bringing a player on the cheap.

Leeds need an attacker with Dan James set to join Fulham on loan. The club also need cover up front for Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt and Rodrigo. The latter suffered a dislocated shoulder against Everton on Tuesday night.

So, to bring in a player with “enormous potential” for a “bargain” fee of £8.5million is excellent work by those at Leeds. Great news for Leeds fans, who have been crying out for another body in the final third this summer.
