Europe-based player says Rangers ace is bound to leave Ibrox

Fabio Cardoso has told The Daily Record that he thinks that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will leave Ibrox in the next year.

Cardoso, now on the books of Santa Clara in Portugal, played for Rangers during the 2017-18 campaign.

Morelos also joined the Gers in the summer of 2017 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and has also broken their European goalscoring record.

Cardoso believes that it will be hard for Rangers to keep the Colombia international for much longer, and has predicted the 24-year-old to leave in the next year.

The Portuguese told The Daily Record: “It will be hard for Rangers to keep Alfredo for much longer. He’s done very well there, he’s a goal machine. He’s a physical player who has improved a lot in Scotland.

“He has worked hard to improve and be smarter on the pitch. But if I had to make a prediction, I’d say that Alfredo will move in the next year.”

Rangers future

While it is hard to see Morelos stay at Rangers for the rest of his career – not many footballers stay at a club forever – the Gers are unlikely to sell him in January given the importance of this season where they are aiming to stop bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from winning the Scottish Prmeiership title for the 10th time in a row.

Even next summer, if Rangers do not get what they want as transfer fee for Morelos, then they may not sell him.

After all, 24-year-old is a very good striker and him staying at Rangers can only be positive for Steven Gerrard’s side.

According to WhoScored, Morelos has scored three goals and provided one assist in the Scottish Premiership and has scored two goals and provided one assist in the Europa League.
