Arsenal are through to the next round of the Europa League as group winners. With Arsene Wenger playing many of the club’s fringe players in the competition this will undoubtedly go down as a success.
That said, the Gunners have not been wholly convincing and last night was no different. They were defeated 1-0 by the woefully out of form Cologne of the Bundesliga.
It was a harsh penalty award that gave the German side the chance to score, with a penalty being slotted away by French striker Sehrou Guirassy.

His name may have been familiar to Arsenal fans, considering he was once linked with a move to the club. In May last year it was being reported by talkSPORT that the French talent was on Arsenal’s radar.
At the time he was coming to the end of an impressive loan spell at Auxerre from parent club Lille. Arsenal were said to be keen on a potential £1 million move for the player, who would become the latest French recruit at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger.

However, the talented striker headed to Cologne instead. He struggled in his debut season at the club last term, with injuries decimating his playing time. This season he has been far more present and has scored four goals in 15 appearances for the side.
So far he is hardly proving Arsenal wrong for not pushing on with a deal. However, he certainly got one over on them last night.
