The European Championships are almost upon us – and that means EURO 2020 Fantasy Football is on the horizon.
It’s a year late due to the global pandemic, but EURO 2020 will finally take place, with Portugal looking to defend their crown from 2016.
Whilst Gareth Southgate and other managers need to finalise their squads, it’s now time for you to finalise your EURO 2020 Fantasy Football teams.
What do we know so far about the official UEFA EURO 2020 Fantasy Football game?
The game is now officially live, though you may be better off picking your team when officials squads have been announced.
Still, UEFA have shared some of the key details on their official website.
You will need to pick a squad consisting of 15 players – two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forward. This is exactly the same format as the Fantasy Premier League game, with 11 starters and four substitutes.
It’s a €100million budget in the EURO 2020 Fantasy Football game, so again, the same as Fantasy Premier League’s £100million.
The big change comes in the limit of players from any one team. In Fantasy Premier League, you can only have three players from one team at any on time. For example, if you had Ruben Dias, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne, you couldn’t grab Phil Foden without sacrificing another Manchester City player.
In EURO 2020 Fantasy Football, it’s a little different. Yes, in the group stage, you can only have three players from any one team.
This gets progressively higher though. Four in the round of 16, five in the quarter-finals, six in the semi-finals and eight in the final.
Substitutions and captaincy work the same way as FPL too. Your matchday captain will score double the points, and substitutes will come off your bench if a starter doesn’t play in that matchday.

When it comes to deadlines, the matchdays will lock upon kick-off of the first game of that matchday, so you need to be ready to go early. EURO 2020 Fantasy Football does though allow for manual substitutions inside the matchday, meaning you can substitute a maximum of four players into your starting XI.
There are only two chips in EURO 2020 Fantasy Football though, compared to three in Fantasy Premier League. The one to miss out is Bench Boost, where your bench score points alongside your starting XI for one game week.
You get one wildcard, where you can make as many transfer as you want without incurring points penalties. The FPL chip ‘Free Hit’ is renamed to ‘Limitless’ here, but it works the same; you can build a whole new team just for one matchday. After that, your team reverts to how it was.
The scoring model is the same as Fantasy Premier League too, so what are you waiting for? Go and pick your EURO 2020 Fantasy Football side here!
