John Stones told England’s official YouTube channel that Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings is the happiest player in camp.

The Manchester City centre-back will be expected to line up next to Mings when England kick-off their Euro 2020 opener against Croatia today.

This is the first time Mings is at a major tournament and it’s well deserved after he helped Villa secure 15 clean sheets during the recently concluded campaign.

But Stones shared what the no-nonsense Villa defender is like off the field, as he was asked to name the happiest player in the England camp.

“Mings is a very bubbly person all the time,” said Stones. “He has got an infectious laugh. I’ll go Mingsy.”

With Harry Maguire still working his way back from injury, it forces Gareth Southgate to look at other defensive options.

From playing either Mings or Conor Coady alongside Stones, or going for a five at the back, with Kyle Walker slipping in on the right-side, just like he did in Russia at the 2018 World Cup.

And whilst England are flowing with talent and depth in the forward areas, the same cannot be said for the defensive options.

That’s clearly England’s weak point and an area of concern heading into their Euro 2020 opener.
