HITC Sport writers have compiled a list of the top 50 players at Euro 2016, assessing players from across the 24 countries taking part at this summer’s tournament.

Coming in at number 14 is Germany and Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.

2015/16: Real’s La Liga drought was extended to four years after Barcelona pipped them to the post on the season’s final day, but Kroos and co. could yet end the campaign on a high as a Champions League final date with city rivals Atletico awaits on Saturday.

Individually, Kroos has been in relatively good form, scoring once and providing 13 assists in 43 appearances so far – and boasting a pass success rate of 94.1 per cent according to Who Scored.

The 26-year-old is second only to Paris Saint-Germain’s Tiago Motta in terms of accurate passes made by a midfielder in this season’s Champions League.

Could we see him in the Premier League? Despite being a regular at the Bernabeu, the papers seem to think so.

Kroos, who said ahead of his 2014 switch that England was ‘a possibility’, has been linked with a Pep reunion at Manchester City, while Manchester United and Arsenal have both been linked in recent months.

With his contract winding down, Real paid a bargain £20 million for the playmaker two summers ago, but with four years still to run in Spain, he’d come at a cost this time, you’d expect.

What can we expect? Kroos was one of Germany’s stars at the 2014 World Cup, with his semi-final display against Brazil particularly catching the eye.

More of the same is expected of not only him, but his teammates too, as they look to follow in Spain’s footsteps by winning back-to-back international tournaments.

He must, however, do without his expected partner Ilkay Gundogan once more – although he managed just fine two years ago.
