Leeds United deadline-day signing Eunan O’Kane has sent a message to his new supporters on Twitter after thanking Bournemouth fans following his move from the Cherries to the Whites.

O’Kane moved to Elland Road on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee on Wednesday to become Garry Monk’s 13th signing of his first summer in charge in Yorkshire.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international brings impressive pedigree to Leeds, having played 118 times for the Cherries in four seasons at the club, playing a large role in their journey from League One to promotion to, and survival in, the Premier League.

He has proven himself at Championship level and did not look out of place in the top flight, and he surely represents a smart signing by Monk.

O’Kane, who is currently away on international duty after being named as a substitute in Ireland’s 4-0 friendly win over Oman on Wednesday, took to Twitter after making his move.

Firstly, he thanked the Bournemouth supporters for whom he has played for the last four years, wishing the club good luck in the future.

Then his attention switched to the new chapter of his career and the former Torquay United man admitted that he was thrilled to have signed for a club steeped in such history.

Leeds fans will be looking forward to seeing O’Kane on the Elland Road pitch after this week’s international break.
