The Republic of Ireland international joined Leeds United in the summer.
Eunan O’Kane has told LUTV that he believes Gaetano Berardi to be Leeds United’s toughest player.
The Swiss full-back made only his second appearance of the season on Tuesday – and first since August – as Leeds edged out Norwich on penalties to reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup, where they will meet Liverpool at Anfield.
It was the 28-year-old’s third injury this calendar year and a certain mental toughness is needed after repeated setbacks regarding his fitness.
But the Republic of Ireland international has told LUTV that Berardi is something of a hard nut overall, noting that he would not want to get the wrong side of him.
He said briefly when asked who his toughest team-mate is: “Bera. You don’t want to get on the wrong side of Bera.”
Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson would have been the obvious candidates for Leeds’ toughest players, given the way in which the two brooding centre-halves have performed for the Whites so far this season.
O’Kane went on to reveal who he thought his most skillful team-mate was, and name-checked the likes of Lewie Coyle and Kalvin Phillips as the club’s showboaters.
He added: “There’s a few. Kalvin, Ronnie [Ronaldo Vieira] – maybe not Ronnie actually, and Coyley. They play a bit of two-touch in the mornings so you see a lot of stuff coming from them.”
Leeds, who sit 10th in the Championship, three points off the top six, host Burton Albion at Elland Road on Saturday.
