Garry Monk left Leeds United suddenly last month after a year in charge.

Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane has told Irish outlet Eir Sport it is “frustrating” that Garry Monk was not able to stay at the club.
The 38-year-old manager shocked the Whites’ fans by handing in his resignation last month, after United just missed out on a playoff spot in the Championship.
Monk’s year-long contract was set to expire but new Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani claimed on Twitter afterwards that a three-year deal was offered, amid reports from The Telegraph that his contractucal situation was among the reasons for his exit.

Nevertheless, he is gone and Republic of Ireland midfielder O’Kane, who was signed by the former Swansea City boss last summer, admits it is disappointing that an agreement was not reached between the manager and owner.
He told Eir Sport during a press conference on international duty: “It’s frustrating that they [Monk and the club] haven’t been able to work it out.
“It’s up to the players and the new manager and his staff to pick up and move it on again.”

On Tuesday night, Radrizzani claimed on Twitter that Leeds were meeting candidates this week, with Alan Pardew 11/10 favourite with bookmakers Sky Bet.
Losing Monk was a big blow, given how good the Whites were last season, but the young manager put some solid foundations in place and it is now up to his successor to build on them.
It would be a big shame for Leeds to regress in the wake of Monk’s departure. The fans spent most of last season dreaming of promotion to the Premier League, which looked a realistic prospect midway through the campaign, and it would be nice if supporters could dream about the same next term.
