The Frenchman is now in good form at Watford.
When Tottenham Hotspur sold Gareth Bale for a world record fee to Real Madrid back in 2013 they invested the money back into the club, bringing in plenty of talented individuals that summer.
One such player was French international Etienne Capoue. Tottenham brought the central midfielder in from Toulouse for a fee reported by the BBC to be in the region of £9 million.

But he was just one of many flops brought in to the club that summer. Paulinho, Vlad Chiriches and Roberto Soldado also failed to shine at Spurs and were eventually moved – as was Capoue.
The midfielder joined Watford and has been in excellent form for the club this season.

This weekend he spoke about his move to Watford to L’Equipe, and was critical of the transfer policy at Spurs when hewas present:
“When I put my second season to Tottenham I was fascinated to find a challenge as interesting. Watford, who had just appeared, showed their interest.
“A chance luck probably with two long injuries I played twice in three months! Despite determination, also after you know here is another mentality: You do not play? It’s not serious, we’ll buy another one.”

Tottenham’s transfer policy has certainly changed in recent times. Mauricio Pochettino is not one to buy for buying sake and is happy to give some of the young players at the club a chance.
Capoue is now enjoying his time at Watford and his time at Tottenham is behind him.
Spurs meanwhile have also moved on from this unhealthy transfer policy.
