Slaven Bilic has been sacked by West Ham after the club dropped into the relegation zone.
Matthew Etherington has claimed on Twitter that it was the “right decision” from the board to sack Slaven Bilic after West Ham United dropped into the Premier League relegation zone.
West Ham announced on their official website that Bilic had been given his marching orders after the Hammers suffered a 4-1 loss to Liverpool on Saturday evening, leaving the east Londoners in 18th place with just two league wins from their 11 outings.
Pressure had been mounting on the Croat’s shoulders for a while but he was unable to turn the tide at the London Stadium, despite bringing high-profile stars in Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez this summer.
Former West Ham winger Etherington posted on his personal Twitter account after the club made their decision, wishing Bilic all the best for the future and stating the “next appointment” is “vital”.
The Guardian claims Scottish manager David Moyes will replace Bilic on an initial six-month contract, despite a dismayed reaction from West Ham fans.
The Hammers will look to appoint a new manager in the coming days while the international break puts the Premier League on hold, with a new boss likely to be announced before the Hammers face Watford on November 19.
