Despite Arsenal winning 3-0 today to move top of the Premier League, everybody is talking about the Ethan Nwaneri debut.

Mikel Arteta’s side moved back to the summit of England’s top flight with relative ease, hammering Brentford in a straightforward London derby.

Goals from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira did the damage for Arsenal on a day when somebody who didn’t score wound up stealing centre stage.

That’s because Premier League history was made when Arteta introduced Nwaneri, who is 15 and 181 days.

In doing so, Nwaneri became the youngest player in the history of this competition – and, of course, the youngest-ever footballer to make a competitive appearance for the Gunners.

Here’s three Instagram posts that he made after the victory:

Obviously this is a momentous day for the teenager, and Gary Lineker joked about him having homework to do for tomorrow.

And that sums it up because remember, Nwaneri is still a student and therefore it’s massively important that the hype is kept within context.

Clearly Arteta has high hopes for the player going forward and hopefully he’ll reach a point where he’s able to make regular appearances in Arsenal’s senior side.

But for now, he’s just a 15-year-old.
