Liverpool have signed defender Ragnar Klavan.

Estonian Journalist Madis Kalvet, writer for the Estonian national paper Posimees, has told the Daily Star that new Liverpool signing Ragnar Klavan has similar traits to Bayern Munich’s Mats Hummels.
The Reds signed Klavan for a reported fee of £4.2 million from German side Augsburg – a deal which has caught many by considering the lack of coverage prior to the deal.
The 30-year-old defender joins fellow new signings Loris Karius and Joel Matip as additions from the Bundesliga, and his presence will no doubt bolster Liverpool’s options at the back.

But who is the Merseyside club’s new signing? Estonian journalist Madis Kalvet gives his views on the player, comparing his attributes and calmness to German World Cup winner Mats Hummels.
“Maybe when you compare him to someone at the absolute top level then he has similarities to Mats Hummels,” Kalvet told the Daily Star.
“Klavan is very calm and doesn’t lose his head on the pitch. He has good technique and is good on the ball. In good games he may be quite invisible, because he doesn’t usually make mistakes.”
“He has good technical skills. He is very confident with the ball and he can open up a game with his good passes. He is also a very good playmaker, he showed that in the Europa League games against Liverpool.”

Liverpool have needed to strengthen their defence this summer following the departures of Kolo Toure and Martin Skrtel, and Klavan can be seen as a decent option to have.
The former Augsburg man made 31 Bundesliga appearances last term, averaging 1.3 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 5.8 effective clearances per league encounter.
Klopp has targetted players from the Bundesliga to strengthen his Liverpool squad this summer, and he will be hopeful that his new recruits will adapt to Premier League football without any issues.
